Canopy management expanded across a range of climates

The principles for canopy management were extended to the V. vinifera variety Sultana and other vinifera varieties by Nelson Shaulis and Richard Smart in Australia and New Zealand, Carbonneau in France, Intrieri in Italy, Kliewer in the USA and Reynolds in Canada. The concept of a training system (i.e. the combination of a trellis system, vine training and pruning and shoot manipulation) for canopy management arose from this research
